I have facilitated this workshop for Time to Talk Befriending as an activity for their whole team, and as part of the Ageing Well Festival, and I have also run it for Evolution Arts.
In the workshop participants create a piece of collage – illustrating and decorating words they have chosen which are based around a theme. For Time to Talk Befriending and Ageing Well Festival it was about celebrating ageing and challenging ageism. Evolution Arts attendees worked with chosen ‘words to live by’ – phrases, sayings, quotes, expressions, song lyrics, that meant something to them.
They construct an assemblage, creating visual connections between the images and words to make an artwork which is especially meaningful to them. The workshop is about experiencing some calming, creative, playful joy – cutting, sticking and composing in the company of others.
